This month’s trip was sponsored by Bryna and Chaim Astor on the occasion of their 24th wedding anniversary. Mazal Tov!
I set the room up for the evening event with HaRav Benjamin Levene. I left and returned to finish setting up before the final Summer Learning Session that included Rabbi Chaim Wasserman, Rabbi Yitzchak Breitowitz, Rabbi Yosef Klausner, Rabbi Efraim Sprecher to find my belongings misplaced and that another sink that was there in the morning was removed without permission of the Bnei Rachel Corp of which I am founder and president being the sole funding purchaser of the first building.. I was then told it was taken back after 8 years from the gifter by a phone call with the worker and the Rosh Yeshiva who moved into the building uninvited and remains without a lease and doing construction without permission. I checked the basement and found it there. Some wonderful men about to daven in Rachel’s Tomb helped bring it up and put it back.. There was a verbal battle and the sink was re-installed. However, the worker was still there working without permission when the evening groups left.
HaRav Benyamin Levene spoke on “Rachel Imeinu and the Rosh Hoshana Prophecy.” The talk on stories of his grandfather and the tzaddakim of his day relayed a very important message. Tzaddakim are simple and one should always respect and care for one’s fellow man. Ima Rachel cries, sacrifices, has empathy and emunah. Her midos carry her children above the decadence, deceptions and will bring us up from the falls. I recalled that I read Tehillim 24 on my first visit to Kever Rachel after the purchase and I understood it was because of the purchase that David HaMelech conquered Yerusahlayim. Re -reading Tehillim #24 I saw that it was emphasized that there is no possession without truth, honesty, righteousness and good deeds. Possession is a function of merit.
Last and very significant was a visit by HaRav Moshe Wolfson, shlita for a tish. About 200 followers of this great rabbi enjoyed a talk in Yiddish. Yerushalmi kugel, rugelah and other refreshments were served . The women and children were behind the mechitza made by Rabbi Moshe Levi for my .yeshiva Bnei Rachel several years ago. The men ended by praying tehillim and singing shmiros. .I was blessed that all my work for Rachel Imeinu and Beit Bnei Rachel should be with emunah, advancement, rewards and free from conflict. I had been told to get a blessing because of the misdeeds from which I and the American companies were suffering by those who called me a “good ange” and admitted they “conned” me and the American companies. They made no monetary investment and called me a donor for their benefit and not owner as was written in the contract and validated by the money trail..
The wonderful beginning and the ending of ELUL in Beit Bnei Rachel were blemished by those working without rights against the owners and developers. It was such a joy to continue to remember lovely, vibrant, generous, giving, loving Sara Blaustein HYD (murdered on the way) with the women of Efrat. Would that she were still here. It was such a joy to be with HaRav Benjamin Levene again whose roots are deep with Jerusalem history and the stories of his grandfather’s visits to Kever Rachel before it was occupied by the Jordanians and after it was reclaimed in 1967, He expressed the ups and downs of Elul and blessed that I overcome the challenges and continue this holy work for Rachel Imeinu. He was present when I donated a Sefer Torah in 1998 on the wide open streets in front of Rachel’s Tomb that got Kever Rachel open 24 hours and inspired so many visitors and saved the Egged Bus #163. I presented him with a painting by Malky Grunwald who displayed that unity and derech eretz are what bring the Guela. This painting is on display in the Rachel’s Children Reclamation Foundation Museum of Jewish Aliyah © that just hosted a Biblical Art Exhibit by Ellen Lapidus Stern. Malky Grunwald, my granddaughter had the first Bas Mitzvah at Beit Bnei Rachel. It suffered having been the first, but just this August at age sixteen her mess up was rectified. She was on the NCSY JOLT program visiting the camps her family survived . She is third generation Holocaust Survivior. Four years later she was celebrating her birthday in Beit Bnei Rachel with her contemporaries in rectification of a Bas Mitzvah that was blemished by complications but still most memorable and the inaugurator of so many more simchas in our beautiful Reception Center.. This birthday was so joyous because it was shared and a surprise. It was also a statement for Jewish steadfastness and survival in the merit of Ima Rachel’s tears.
HaRav Moshe Wolfson shlita of Borough Park, Brooklyn spoke of the positives of Elul and our necessity to keep on the derech. Truth, responsibility, good deeds are some of the ingredients that will bring rectification.and redemption. I sincerely thank those for thanking me. Let us thank Hashem for all our successes. Rachel’s Children Reclamation Foundation is a foundation I formed to save Kever Rachel and to present Ima Rachel as the Jewish Mother par excellence who will show us how to return to our Torah and holy land borders, by learning, sharing and caring. We can reclaim our inheritance by acting according to Hashem’s Pathways of Torah. This is the time we a warned of the curses from going off the derech and advised of the blessings of being righteous.. Let us know only goodness and enjoy the Redemption this Rosh Hoshana as we read the Haftorah of Yirmiahu promising Rachel Imeinu that her children will return to their borders.

Press Release and Summer 2011 Continues

Press Release: Rachel’s Children Reclamation Foundation’s Lecture and Supperette series of the Summer 2011/5771 continues to be an educating and inspiring attraction for English speakers. Evelyn Haies, president and founder of RCRF and majority owner of Beit Bnei Rachel told her amazing story of saving Kever Rachel by writing contests, petitions and non-stop activities. The 163 bus only had four riders and by handing out flyers Evelyn increased the ridership 800%. Before Kever Rachel was encaged. Evelyn, by inviting Rabbis to speak on the bus, the buses filled and overflowed. The dedication of the RCRF Sefer Torah on Rosh Chodesh Tammuz 1998 brought over 3,000 and since then Kever Rachel is open 24 hours with a recent exception after 10:30pm now for a few hours. When no one would buy the land, Evelyn was the Nachshon ben Aminadav who put down all the money to purchase Beit Bnei Rachel. It was on Haftorah Behar, when Yirmiyhu, in the pit, and in the midst of a war, bought land. Evelyn made the payment to buy this land just feet from Rachel’s Tomb for RCRF while they were shooting at Gilo. Two other adjoining buildings were purchased with initial and closing funds of RCRF where RCRF is still majority owner and Evelyn is President and Trustee. Private investors shared in the purchase of the latter two properties
Rabbi Chaim Wasserman, President of the Young Israel at Heichal Shlomo, renowned teacher and author, gave an inspiring and informative speech on 19th century Religious Zionists, Rav Yehudah Alkalai (1708-1879) and Rav Zvi Hirsh Kalisher (1795-1874), both advocates and authors who ignited a Jewish nationalism movement sixty years before Theodore Herzl. It was a movement for the return to Torah Judaism together with the reclamation of Eretz Hachodesh. Rabbi Wasserman was presented with a print of the Artwork of 15 year old Malky Grunwald who expressed the deeper meaning of Rachel Imeinu with roots united and intertwined and branches spelling Derech Eretz. Without Unity and Derech Eretz there can be no V Shavu Banim L’Gvulum.
Rabbi Dr. Yosef Klausner gave two informative lectures on Rachel Imeinu, Ruth and Beis Lechem. We learned Rachel went ahead as she was expecting a second child. Benyamin was born on the way, on Derech Efrata, She gave life to the only tribe born in Israel proper. He explained how the Kingdom of David and Jewish leadership originated from Beis Lechem, Rachel, Boaz, Naomi and Ruth. He suggested Shlomo walked in the fields just south of Yerushalayim where his father David wrote the tehillim we say so passionately at Rachel’s Tomb.
Rabbi Efraim Sprecher, Dean of diaspora Yeshiva and Lecturer at the OU Israel Center gave a post 17th of Tammuz lecture on Anger Management. Because of anger and hate, the Jewish people went off the derech and suffered the wrath of Hashem. He presented the giving characters of Rachel Imeinu and Benyamin. Rachel gave her
right to be the bride of Yaakov to her sister Leah; Yonaton, descendant of Benyamin, gave his right of kingship to David. Both did not put themselves first but acted for the good of Klal Yisrael.
Rabbi Judge Yitzchak Breitowitz, a lecturer at Ohr Sameach and the OU Israel Center gave an inspiring Rosh Chodesh Av shiur. He spoke of the divisions within the Jewish community and the warring amongst themselves. He quoted Titus as saying, “I don’t have to destroy them because the Jews will destroy themselves.” He presented that there was nothing to be gained in discussing flaws of others and that Jews must fix themselves. He mentioned how Avraham Aveinu stood as a wall against corruption, yet he pleaded for the chance of teshuva for those off the derech; his tent was always open. Love, firmness, tolerance , respect and acceptance were ingredients for spiritual rejew-venation
The educational events continue with socialization while enjoying a healthy home made buffet of delights prepared mostly by Rochelle Eissenstat, the first on the third anniversary of the survival of her family from the bulldozer attack hammering and riding over her Mazda. She says it was definitely the hand of G-d which saved them because of their charity and respect for their parents. Her platters are so sumptuous and she is so generous to continue to host our appetites as we enrich as our minds. There is time afterwards for davening and tehillim.
RCRF is planning its Fall series. We need your help, ideas, donations, preparations. Everyone who attended recommends you bring at least one friend because the RCRF events in Beit Bnei Rachel in the Rachel Tomb Complex are extraordinary, educational and uplifting.
RCRF thanks everyone for participating. The rest of the schedule of evening programs via 5PM Egged #163 Bus and starting at 6PM is as follows:
RABBI EFRAIM SPRECHER
7 av, Sunday, August 7,
“Don’t despair – Hang in there!”
Upcoming debut: ELLEN LAPIDUS STERN:
BIBLICAL ART EXHIBIT AND LECTURE
August 18, 18 Av 6pm
HARAV BENYAMIN LEVENE
Rosh Chodesh Elul, Tuesday, August 30,
“Rachel Imeinu and the Rosh Hashana Prophecy”
*Weekly classes are continuing since 2003: Wednesdays at 11am until 2pm; 10am Egged #163 Bus:
with Atara Gur, Rachel Imeinu Scholar and Author and Nechama Sarah G. As the third holiest site in Israel, Rachel’s Tomb was on the Oslo chopping block. Her Manhattan Beach neighbors had a meeting to support those who would suffer from Oslo and decided to sponsor a community. As ideas don’t always come into fruition, Evelyn actualized her good idea to twin with Kever Rachel. She wrote the song, “We are Rachel’s Children”

A Writing Contest connected Jewish children with the Rachels in their families, miracle and midos stories and with historical research of Rachel’s Tomb in Beis Lechem.
Viewing an Hachnossat Sefer Torah in her neighborhood, Evelyn thought, if people bought a letter in the Torah then the Sefer Torah would be theirs. If the Torah was in Kever Rachel, they would be very connected and concerned for Ima Rachel’s tomb. Evelyn asked the sofer the cost to write a Torah for Kever Rachel. She was told a discounted price of $25,000. Within weeks of this idea, Evelyn was approached by the accountant who had drawn up the application for the RCRF Tax Exempt Status. He said he usually doesn’t charge charities, but asked her if she would like to buy a raffle. Evelyn asked how much. He said $500. She asked if he had a cheaper raffle. He said he did not. She said, “then I guess I have to buy it.”Evelyn won the raffle; Split the Pot was $26,000, the cost of raffle, Sefer Torah and some towards expenses of a seudah in New York and another in Beis Lechem. Thousands attended the 1998 rosh Chodesh Tammuz event on the wide unwalled streets in front of Rachel’s Tomb. Because of the great showing, the Rabbi of Holy Sites, HaRav Shmuel Rabinowitz announced Kever Rachel, henceforth, to be opened 24 hours a day.
This educational event was culminated with a extravagant buffet of delights prepared mostly by Rochelle Eissenstat on the third anniversary of the survival of her family from the bulldozer attack hammering and riding over her Mazda. She says it was definitely the hand of G-d which saved them because of their charity and respect for their parents.
RCRF is planning more programs. Evelyn Haies, founder and president of RCRF and Bnei Rachel Corp spoke of her seventeen year mission to present Rachel Imeinu as the Jewish Mother par excellence who is a role model to make Bnei Rachel proud, reclaim her midos and their identity and also be role models for derech eretz. She named the street in front of her houses Derech Chaya Rachel because keeping the ways of our Matriarch Rachel is a life force. The roots of the past are the foundation of the future.
Rabbi Dr. Joseph C. Klausner emphasized Purim Katan as a small holiday which occurs early in Adar Aleph this being a leap year. It is explained as a lesson in concealing and revealing. Redemption is a spiraling process of praying, revealing the cover ups, taking off the masks that conceal truth, reestablishing Jewish identity, reacting in unity to the dangers and acting together for survival of the community, recognizing the anti-Semitic set ups and trusting in the chesed of Hashem, restoring the connection to Hashem, thanking Hashem.
RCRF will be hosting a Purim Shiur and Sueda on Sunday, March 20, in their large Reception Center in Beis Lechem, where Rachel Imeinu died “on the way” giving birth to Benjamin, ancestor of Mordechai and Esther. Please make your reservations early and be part of the simcha when our confusion leads to clarity, when what is behind the masks is revealed and we are on the derech, the pathways for blessings and simcha. Rabbi Ephraim Sprecher will be speaking on “Rachel Imeinu and Esther HaMalkah, Most Beloved Heroines in Jewish History”. This is the place to celebrate our becoming a nation, surviving and redeeming the promises with joy.
V’Shavu Banim l’gvulum.

New Series: Tehillim Therapy and February and March 2011 Events

B"H
RACHEL'S CHILDREN RECLAMATION FOUNDATION 5755-5771
60 West End Avenue, Brooklyn NY 11235 718-648-2610,
<rachelschildren@gmail.com> 054-224-2649 www.theracheltear.blogspot.com
Beit Bnei Rachel, Rachel Tomb Complex, Beis Lechem
Past speakers: HARAV MAYER HOROWITZ, Rebbitzen Tziporah Heller. RCRF became active when Kever Rachel was on the Oslo chopping block. As Rabbi Menachem Porush cried, Evelyn Haies did twinning ceremonies to alert the Jewish world to the need to visit and save Kever Rachel. She initiated writing contests as testaments of past Jewish presence as well as presenting Rachel Imeinu as a role model for the whole world today. Her petitions which included statements from her Senators and Congressmen and Rav Porush and Chanan Porat's tears and the presence of a Merkas HaRav Kook's single kollel under the leadership of HaRav Avraham Shapira and Rabbi Magnus saved Rachel's Tomb and made it accessible to all. RCRF with the soliciatation of HaRav Benny Elon and Yeshiva Beit Orot was the initial and majority purchaser of Beit Bnei Rachel. This purchase, that Jews owned land south of Kever Rachel caused Kever Rachel and our properties to be included within the wall even while the wall was built in the middle of the road leaving out the Tzvi Hirsh Kalisher and the Nathan Strauss properties. RCRF with the support of HaRav Porush and a group of Hilltop kids just two years ago succeeded in re-establishing access by car. RCRF which needs a van is happy that president and founder Evelyn Haies is always given rides out of Kever Rachel and thanks all those who have gone out of their way to even drive her to her home in Jerusalem. She welcomes you to the Many RCRF sponsored classes in Beit Bnei Rachel, to visit the RCRF Museum of Jewish Aliyah and help in its development. We have celebrated many Bas Mitzvahs and this October had a first Bris in our large Reception Center. You are invited to book your simchas as well as sponsor simchas for others and lectures.
As the Chofetz Chaim inspired Shmiras Haloshen seminars around the world for a cure-all, Rachel’s Children Reclamation Foundation, a 501c3 has initiated talks emanating from our Loving Matriarch, Ima Rachel. RCRF has adopted the theme of Derech Eretz as an ongoing effort to develop the midos of Bnei Rachel and bring Torah, truth, honesty, unity, empathy and love to the world.
We know Laban had other plans for Yaakov and Rachel who waited seven years to actualize their love. We know both sisters were terrified of being betrothed to Esau, who lusted, terrorized and killed. We know both sisters were part of Hashem’s plan for creation. In unity, the four wives of Yaakov created the 12 tribes of Israel and were mothers of the nation of Israel. We know Yosef’s brothers were off the derech in their actions against him. But, it was G-d’s plan for survival. As Hashem promised Rachel Imeinu who was buried “on the way” to keep Bnei Rachel “on the derech” Bnei Rachel will merit Eretz Hachodesh and Redemption.
Our teacher on Rosh Chodesh Tammuz, HaRav Mayer Horowitz, the Bostoner Rebbe of HaNof, was the MC when RCRF dedicated a Sefer Torah on the wide open, empty, unwalled streets of Beis Lechem in 1998. this Sefer Torah celebrated at the ZOA 1997 Annual Dinner is housed in Kever Rachel in the aron kodesh in the wall built by HaRav Goren with stones from Har Habayit until this day. As we read our 2nd Sefer Torah dedicated amazingly seven years later through the Sefer Torah Recycling Network by the Caplan family in 2005, 12 years later in Beit Bnei Rachel, HaRav Mayer Horowitz lit candles remembering his esteemed parents, explained Rosh Chodesh was a festival for women today because of men's sin with the golden calf. Women should not sew nor do heavy work on Rosh Chodesh. In the end of days it would be a festival for both men and women when all come to worship the L-rd. The Kavod shown for his parents and Torah are preliminaries of Derech Eretz.
Another teacher, Rebbitzen Tziporah Heller spoke on “Derech Eretz, Personal Refinement”. As the world suffers from “me-ism”, Rebbitzen Heller who gave a first shir for RCRF in 1996 when Evelyn was petitioning to save the one Egged bus attracting an 800% increase in ridership. explained that mitzvahs make a difference, that control limits and, thus, refines in eating, what one wears, how one speaks and acts.
Ha Rav Benjamin Levene, grandson of “A Tzaddik in our Time” who was on the dais in the 1998 Torah Dedication Ceremony participated in our Rosh Chodesh ELUL Torah reading and shofar blowing, remembered when we could not come to Kever Rachel during the Jordanian occupation as well as when we reclaimed it in 1967. He spoke of when his grandfather Reb Aryeh Levin a”h walked to visit the woman prisoners in Beis Lechem during the time of the British occupation. Geula Cohen noted that Rav Aryeh couldn’t take us out of prison, but brought freedom to us. One of his greatest traits was respect for people in need even with weaker ways of observance. He never belittled; he saw greatness in their little acts influencing them to advance in the right derech. He saw Rochel Imeinu as a role model of caring, kindness and a big heart. She was true Derech Eretz.
The great storyteller Rabbi Hanoch Teller who just released his new book, “Too Beautiful” chose the topic “Derech Eretz – Honorable Mentschen”. He made mention that little considerations mattered. Being late stole time. Writing Thank You Notes made a difference.
Rabbi Yonason Alpren said that when you go to a kever, you don’t just go to cry and pray, you go to find the “straight path”, to contemplate the way to wake up, be straight with Torah application. Caring, sharing, working, striving, persistency, endurance were some of the traits of Rachel and her descendants.
Roy Neuberger noted author and past RCRF dinner participant emphasized the hardships and challenges Bnei Rachel face. As Rachel Imeinu stands for love, motherhood, good deeds and creation, there is a wicked world that believes in world domination, child suicide, mutilation, murder, decapitation and nuclear destrucution.
After an Inspiring summer in Beit Bnei Rachel, RCRF convened its 16th Annual Commemoration of the Yahrzeit of Rachel Imeinu. Rabbi David Fohrman was the Keynote Speaker He said that a Yahrzeit was an emotional time. Rachel Imeinu's Yahzeit was an emotional time from when Yosef Hatzaddik passed his mother's grave going into exile. It is an emotional time today in Israel as 70,000 went to her grave as well as RCRF enjoyed a full house at MBJC.. Rabbi Fohrman emphasized her legacy of hard life, pain, theft of her husband, rivalry, barrenness. and through this Bnei Rachel has developed their true identity, He links the Esther and the Joseph story and the eradication of terrible wrongs of expulsion, theft and destruction. NYS Assemblyman Steven H Cymbrowitz received the Community Leadership Award for his activities of presenting Holocaust studies to the public schools. Lev and Roza Rivkin received the well deserved Rachel Imeinu Chessed Award, Rabbi Shimon Golding received the Community Service Award. Actualist and Writing Contest Awards were introduced by Malky Grunwald , granddaughter of Evelyn Haies, who had celebrated the First Bas Mitzvah at Beit Bnei Rachel on Rosh Chodesh Elul 2007, experiencing the challenges her mother faced since purchase of this property and before as a fighter to save Kever Rachel. Her painting on Derech eretz is truly noteworthy with its branches including Derech Eretz and its long path expressing the Jewish experience of V'shavu banim l'gvulum. Participants were from Prospect Park Yeshiva, Shulamith and SKA. RCRF is continuing the Writing Contest: Submit Rachel stories, poems, artwork . The theme is Derech Eretz in the Merit of Rachel Imeinu. The deadline is November 15 , 2010
BOOK YOUR SIMCHAS WITH RCRF IN OUR LARGE RECEPTION CENTER AND BEIT MEDRASH.
Attend our Wednesday Women's classes with Atar Gur our Rachel Imeinu scholar for over 7 years. Your donations will help RCRF achieve a daily women's presence in our property as well as support our Special events and help develop our Museum of Jewish Aliyah. Rosh Yeshiva Rabbi Benny Elon is overseeing a vibrant kollel in RCRF funded and majority owned Beit Bnei Rachel.

links: http://www.israelnationalnews.com/Radio/News.aspx/2440 Live interview with Evelyn Haies.
Elul - The Concept of Avos & Imahos and the Attributes of Rachel Imenu -
Rabbi Leff: Special shiur given at the Israel Center - a reapeat of a shiur given for "Rachel's Children" in the home of Evelyn Haies at Kever Rochel on Rosh Chodesh Elul, 5769

PS: Malky Grunwald who had the first Bas Mitzvah in Beit Bnei Rachel with all the difficulties of an initiator is the artist who painted the Kever Rachel- Derech Eretz picture which had so many requests by buyers. In Parasha Lech Lecha, we go from the fall of Adam, the murder of Abel, the flood, the fall of the Tower of Babel, the destruction of Sodom and Gemorah. We change direction and make an aliyah away from the evil society with Avram who became Avraham, Sarai who became Sarah. Abraham goes from Shem to Elon Moreh, Beit El, Mamre which is Hebron. He begins a new derech. He chooses monotheism and the ways of The Creator, creation and not destruction. The Jewish people stop wandering and begin to settle and live according to the “good ideology”, Hashem’s Roadmap.
Some call MarCheshvan a sad month. How can it be sad when the Jewish people chose good over evil, to defeat the King of Cheshbon and to say no to cheshbonot. They gave up materialism for a life filled with midos. Avraham became the father of Hachnosat Orchim. Yitzchak became the wiser when he heard the voice of G-d and was strong in not re-negotiating a broken pact with the Plishtines who wanted Eretz Hachodesh, Yaakov fathered the twelve tribes and kept the ways of the Jews even in his diasporas.
Rachel Imeinu gave birth to Benyamin and completed the twelve tribes and the Nation of Israel. Rachel named him Ben Oni, the son of her sorrow, sadly dying at childbirth at just 36. But such was not acceptable for Yisrael, He named him the son of the right, Benyamin. And, he was a true son of his righteous mother, Rachel.
Because of the choices of the Patriarchs and Matriarchs, the Jewish people have been given a derech, a pathway for righteousness.
As Lech Lecha falls in Cheshvan it really is a call to go away from evil and choose goodness. It is a month to begin the good life. Bereishit is the story of creation of the world. Lech Lecha is the story of creation of aliyah to the “good ideology.” In Lech Lecha, Avraham says no to evil and builds the foundation for civilization. Rachel say no to herself, thinking of the future. Because she put herself after her sister, she is the Mother of Sisterhood. Because she pleaded for children and cries for their well being, she is Mother Israel.
Derech Eretz is the lesson learned in Lech Lecha. Derech Eretz denies the philosophy of me and materialism, denies the bad deeds of lies, theft and murder. It chooses midos and that is what matters. Derech Eretz seeks to make the world a better place with Torah borders. If we all act with Derech Eretz, there will be no selfishness, slander, shame, strife, suffering.
We call the name of the road in front of Beit Bnei Rachel, the majority RCRF Jewish owned property, Derech Chaya Rachel. Rachel Imeinu was buried “on the way” to keep all her children on the derech. Let us choose the good derech and know only betterment and a life of Torah truth.

October 18, 2010 16th Annual RCRF Commemoration Yahrzeit of Rachel Imeinu

BS'D
Rachel’s Children Reclamation Foundation
60 West End Avenue, Brooklyn NY 11235
www.theracheltear.blogspot.com 718-648-2610 212-470-0967 rachelschildren@gmail.com,
The Sixteenth Annual NY Citywide Commemoration of the
YAHRZEIT OF RACHEL IMEINU
JEWISH MOTHER’S DAY
11 MarCheshvan 5771 GALA BUFFET JOURNAL DINNER
Manhattan Beach Jewish Center, 60 West End Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11235
Monday Evening, October 18, 2010, 6:30 P.M.
Keynote Speaker
RABBI DAVID FOHRMAN

Community Leadership Award
NYS ASSEMBLYMAN STEVEN H. RCRF has adopted the theme of Derech Eretz as an ongoing effort to develop the midos of Bnei Rachel and bring Torah, truth, unity, empathy and love to the world.
Our teacher on Rosh Chodesh Tammuz, HaRav Mayer Horowitz, the Bostoner Rebbe of HaNof, was the MC when RCRF dedicated a Sefer Torah on the wide open streets of Beis Lechem in 1998 which is housed in Kever Rachel until this day. As we read our 2nd Sefer Torah dedicated through the Sefer Torah Recycling Network by the Caplan family in 2005, 12 years later in Beit Bnei Rachel, HaRav Mayer Horowitz lit candles remembering his esteemed parents, explained Rosh Chodesh was a festival for women today because of men's sin with the golden calf. As the world suffers from “me-ism”, Rebbitzen Heller explained that mitzvahs make a difference, that control limits and, thus, refines in eating, what one wears, how one speaks and acts. Ha Rav Benjamin Levene, grandson of “A Tzaddik in our Time” remembered when we could not come to Kever Rachel as well as when we reclaimed it in 1967. He spoke of when his grandfather Reb Aryeh Levin a”h walked to visit the woman prisoners in Beis Lechem during the time of the British occupation. Geula Cohen wrote that although he couldn’t take us out of prison, he brought freedom to us. One of his greatest traits was respect for people in need even with weaker ways of observance. He never belittled; he saw greatness in their little acts influencing them by moving them in the right derech. He saw Rochel Imeinu as a role model of caring, kindness and a big heart. She was true Derech Eretz. The great storyteller and author of numerous books, Rabbi Hanoch Teller who just released his new book, “Too Beautiful” chose the topic “Derech Eretz – Honorable Mentschen”. He made mention that little considerations mattered. Being late stole time. Writing Thank You Notes made a difference. Rabbi Yonason Alpren said that when you go to a kever, you don’t just go to find a place cry and pray, your go to find the “straight path”, to contemplate the way to wake up, be straight with the Torah application. Caring, sharing, working, striving, persistency, endurance were some of the traits of Rachel and her descendants.
Inspired by the summer events in Beit Bnei Rachel, RCRF has organized its 16th evening to commemorate our Jewish Mother Rachel Imeinu par excellence. RCRF and Bnei Rachel Corp
Summer sessions presented by Rachel’s Children Reclamation Foundation 054-224-2649
60 West End Avenue, Brooklyn NY 11235,

theracheltear.blogspot.com, rachelschildren@gmail.com
at Beit Bnei Rachel, Rachel’s Tomb Complex.

As the Chofetz Chaim has Loshen Hora seminars around the world for a cure-all, Rachel’s Children Reclamation Foundation has initiated talks emanating from our Loving Matriarch, Ima Rachel. RCRF has adopted the theme of Derech Eretz as an ongoing effort to develop the midos of Bnei Rachel and bring Torah, truth, unity, empathy and love to the world. We know Laban had other plans for Yaakov and Rachel who waited seven years to actualize their love. We know that both sisters were terrified of being betrothed to Esau, who lusted, terrorized and killed. We know both sisters were part of Hashem’s plan for creation. And in unity, the four wives of Yaakov created the 12 tribes of Israel and were mothers of the nation of Israel. We know that Yosef’s brothers were off the derech in their actions against him. But, it was G-d’s plan for survival. We believe survival will be achieved more pleasantly with Derech Eretz. Rachel Imeinu was buried “on the way” to keep Bnei Rachel on the derech to merit Eretz Hachodesh.

As we read our 2nd Sefer Torah dedicated through the Sefer Torah Recycling Network by the Caplan family 12 years later in Beit Bnei Rachel, HaRav Mayer Horowitz lit candles remembering his esteemed parents, explained that Rosh Chodesh was a festival for women today because of men's sin with the golden calf. As the world suffers from “me-ism”, "ani achad", Rebbitzen Heller explained that mitzvahs make a difference, that control limits and, thus, refines in eating, what one wears, how one speaks and acts. Ha Rav Benjamin Levene, grandson of “A Tzaddik in our Time” remembered a time when we could not come to Kever Rachel as well as when we reclaimed it in 1967. He also remembered when his grandfather Reb Aryeh Levin a”h walked to visit the woman prisoners in Beis Lechem during the time of the British occupation. Geula Cohen wrote that although he couldn’t take us out of prison he brought freedom to us. One of his greatest traits was respect for people in need even with weaker ways of observance. He never belittled them; he saw greatness in their little acts and influenced them by moving them in the right derech. He saw Rochel Imeinu as a role model of caring, kindness and a big heart. She was true Derech Eretz.
On Tuesday, August 17, the great storyteller and author of numerous books, Rabbi Hanoch Teller will speak at 11AM. Besides taking the 10am Egged Bus #163 to Rachel’s Tomb cars can bring you right to the free parking lot. His topic will be “Derech Eretz – Honorable Mentschen”. Men and Women are invited. There is a Mechitza.

On Thursday, August 26, via the 10am Egged Bus #163 to Rachel’s Tomb, you will meet RCRF at the entrance. Rabbi Yehonason Alpren highly respected lecturer will speak on "Thoughts on Derech Eretz: Rochel Imeinu and her Meaning for her Jewish Generations Today."

It's Elul. We remembered the wide open street where HaRav Mayer Horowitz was the MC 12 years ago. The double wide street was crowded with several thousand as we danced with the first RCRF Sefer Torah and cried because this was the way it was supposed to be and it was difficult for life to be normal for Jews even in Israel. Evelyn explained the walled in corridor as like an umbilical cord to Mother Rachel and finding solace and promise in her ohel was a force of strength, the roots of the past nourishing the present and solidifying the future.
The Gross/Caplan Sefer Torah donated to RCRF seven years later was read by a minyan that consisted of the Bostoner Rebbe, HaRav Mayer Horowitz, former MK Rabbi HaRav Benyamin Elon, the Rosh Yeshiva Rabbi Eli and his students, Moshe Burt of the Torah Recycling Network and artist Moshe Braun who came with his painting of Kever Rachel in warm comforting colors and others. As more woman came the women's section behind the mechitza expanded.
The Dvar Torahs that followed related to the Haftorah of Isaiah 66:1-24. HaRav Benny who quoted. "As a Mother comforts her son, so I will comfort you and you will be comforted in Yerushalayim." That is why so many were coming to Rachel's Kever, especially on Rosh Chodesh. From only one bus in 1998 there were now because of the petitions of RCRF 8 double #163 buses many times with standing room only as well as tour buses and private cars. He said that we are in return comforting Rachel Imeinu by giving her this house, Beit Bnei Rachel and applauded the achievements of Evelyn Haies who overcame so many obstacles and Atara Gur who received The Rachel Imeinu Scholarship Award. Women can attend Medreshet Chaya Rachel and Ruth classes every Wednesday at 11am to be followed by a class by Nechama Nadborny, author and illustrator of "The Twelve Dimensions of Israel."
HaRav Mayer Horowitz , the Bostoner Rebbe of Har Nof, who lit candles remembering his esteemed parents, explained that Rosh Chodesh was a festival for women today because of men's sin with the golden calf. Women should not sew nor do heavy work on Rosh Chodesh. In the end of days it would be a festival for both men and women when all come to worship the L-rd as well as all nations.
Moshe Burt indicated the Torah we read was one of two torahs donated from Maryland, USA. He recalled the pain he felt he felt five years ago when he could not reach Beit Bnei Rachel because as a cohain he could not pass through the Kever and the use of the street which we now call Derech Chaya Rachel was forbidden. Today he walked down the street and was happily within the Beit Medrash of Beit Bnei Rachel reading the Torah with a minyan in a full room. He sadly recognized that Rachel Imeinu still had much to cry for and asked for a refuah for our recovering IDF injured on the flotilla, Boris ben Illaina, Yotam ben Dorit, Ido ben Illana, Ro’ee ben Shulamit, Dean ben Svetlana, Daniel Lazar ben Tina Taabal Leah.
The ceremony ended with dancing and a L'Chaim. As we viewed a Museum of Jewish Aliyah panel it was indicated that it was 12 years ago after the RCRF Hachnosat Sefer Torah dedication that Kever Rachel was opened 24 hours a day.
We are again accepting submissions for our Writing and Art Work Contest. Topics include, Rachel Imeinu as a role model for the whole world, The Rachel in My family, My Miracle Rachel Story. Save the Date, October 19, 2010, 11 MarCheshvan 5771 for our 16th Annual NYC wide commemoration of the Yahrzeit of Rachel Imeinu and Jewish Mother's Day. Celebrate your Bas Mitzvahs and simchas at Beit Bnei Rachel. It is much more than the glatt kosher food catered by New Star Caterers at the Manhattan Beach Jewish Center on 60 West End Avenue, Brooklyn NY, that will make this another most meaningful event. 2009 was a very significant year for RCRF. It was so fulfilling to celebrate Tu BShvat at Beit Bnei Rachel. Although our pomegranate and fig trees are inside the house within the walls, they are growing. The number of people coming to our events and to Kever Rachel are increasing. This 5770 Yahrzeit will see the tens of thousands again. The 11th anniversary of the Sefer Torah on Rosh Chodesh Tammuz began with Beit Orot Yeshiva boys laining, sharing breakfast with guests and a shiur on why Rachel Imeinu merits to bring the Geula. Rebbitzen Tsippora Heller, Rabbi Yosef Klausner, Rabbi Ephraim Sprecher, Rabbi Yaakov Gurwitz were some of our inspirational speakers. Rabbi Leff's Rosh Chodesh Elul shiur was filled with exceptional ruach by being in Beit Bnei Rachel. The spirit of this time surpassing message is at http://www.rabbileff.net/shiurim/special/index.htm.
RCRF 60 West End Avenue, Brooklyn NY 11235, 718-648-2610 is over active in Israel and the US. Working overtime to reclaim our roots, Jewish identity and connect with the "good ideology", RCRF has initiated a very timely program with a memorable theme, "Derech Eretz in the Merit of Rachel Imeinu". Although many are hinting at this necessary subject, this will be the theme of weekly classes at Beit Bnei Rachel, the RCRF majority owned Jewish property within the walled Rachel Tomb Complex because Rachel Imeinu's virtues are an example for us all especially in these trying times. She sacrificed herself for the future of Israel and is remembered over 3600 years as Mother Israel and is a role model for the whole civilized world.
Besides visiting the injured in the Gaza War, RCRF has also begun a Newsletter: The Rachel Tear, which can be viewed at theracheltear.blogspot.com.
The Keynote Address at our dinner will be by Rabbi Raymond Beyda, a well known speaker and author of "1 Minute With Yourself". He will be introduced by Rabbi Yaakov Farhi of Torah Israel Sephardic Congregation of Manhattan Beach. Rabbi Moshe Snow who was a guest speaker in our Beit Bnei Rachel on Derech Chaya Rachel will explain "A Monumental Task". The Community Chessed Award will be presented to Mozelle Sammell by Gail Friedlin. The Community Activist Award will be presented to Myrna Zisman by Arlene Fox. Malky Grunwald, a new student at SKA who had the first Bas Mitzvah at Beit Rnei Rachel on Rosh Chodesh Elul 5757 will also address the audience about the meaning of Bas Mitzvahs at Kever Rachel . Please rush your ads and donations as this is our major fundraiser that supports Torah readings, weekly shiurim and the development of a Museum of Jewish Aliyah, a Beit Midrash, a Simcha Center and a Biblical Garden with a replica of ancient Kever Rachel as a chuppah. As we learned about being strong on Tisha B’Av, we were taught that Tu B’Av overcomes. What simcha when the weddings of our Bas Mitzvah girls are celebrated under the chuppah dedicated in the RCRF Biblical Garden. Remember it was RCRF since 1995: we petitioned for the Egged buses, initiated the shiurim, dedicated two Torahs, conduct classes and work so hard to fulfill the Rachel Prophecy, V Shavu Banim L'Gvulum. "Remember, A visit to Israel without going to Kever Rachel is like going home and not visiting your mother." It has initiated writing contests, written a song, did Twinning Ceremonies, and acquired a Sefer Torah for Kever Rachel and another for Beit Bnei Rachel, the only Jewish owned property within the walled Rachel's Tomb complex of which Rachel's Children Reclamation Foundation is the majority owner. It has inaugurated Jewish Mother's Day to recognize Mother Rachel as a role model for the whole world. It is in the process of establishing a post-Ulpana Midreshet Chaya Rachel and Ruth, a Museum of Jewish Aliyah, a Beit Medrash, a Simcha/Bas Mitzvah Center and Biblical Garden with a Replica of the Old Kever Rachel with four columns and a dome which will be as a Chuppah, Dais, and Bandstand for Garden events in the Grand biblical Garden. It sponsors weekly classes in the Beit Medrash, Rosh Chodesh Events with Torah Readings and with major speakers and is developing a major program of Derech Eretz in the Merit of Rachel Imeinu.

The Rachel Tear, a Rosh Hashana Poem

The Rachel Tear
(c)September 15, 2009
In Memory of Our Lost and for the Redemption this Rosh Hoshanah
by Evelyn Haies,
President Rachels Children Reclamation Foundation(RCRF)
and Bnei Rachel Corp
http://theracheltear.blogspot.com/

Mother Rachel is crying for her children
for those to be born
for those lost and in exile
for those slain and torn from the living
for those who remain outside Torah bordersf
or those whose borders are disordered

Ima Rachel is crying on ramah;
she refuses to be consoled
until she is promised
her children are settled
and secure in their homeland,
no longer to roam

Rachel Imeinu is pleading
never ceding her advocacy
for the pain to cease
the pain of barrenness
the pain of emptiness
the pain of centuries of persecution against her Jewish chilren.

Mother Rachel cries tears of love for her brave children,
tears for their dreams and their efforts,
